2010 Soul Train Award Nominees

The 2010 Soul Train Award Nominees were announced and the Gospel category is well represented with heavy hitters! The nominees for Best Gospel Performance are Fred Hammond, Pastor Marvin Sapp, Youthful Praise featuring JJ Hairston,  Tye Tribbett, Lisa Page Brooks, and Bishop Hezekiah Walker and The Love Fellowship Choir ! The award show will be hosted by Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard and will be taped on November 10th at the Cobb Energy Center in metro Atlanta.The awards will air on on Sunday November 28, 2010 on CENTRIC and BET at 9:00 p.m. Congratulations to all the nominees and be sure to tune in and support!

“He Wants It All” Hits #1

Congratulations goes out to family band, Forever Jones! The leading single, “He Wants It All” from their debut album, “Get Ready” has officially hit #1 on the Billboard Gospel Charts after spending over 9 weeks in the top 10 Gospel charts.  The family has been busy touring and are getting ready to release a Christmas EP which will contain an acoustic version of “He Wants It All”.

The Caravans honor Dr. Albertina Walker during Funeral Celebration

The Legendary Caravans were reunited once again to pay homage and celebrate the life of the group organizerand the Queen of Gospel, Dr. Albertina Walker during the celebration services held in Chicago on October 15, 2010 at the West Point Baptist Church.  Singing together again were Pastor Shirley Caesar, Evangelist Dorothy Norwood, Inez Andrews, Delois Washington, Gwen Morgan and Loleatta Howard backed by Faith Howard and Just Friends.

New Solo Album From Canton Jones Coming 1st Quarter

Get ready for a brand new solo album from Canton Jones coming 1st quarter 2011. Jones has released two compilation albums and mixtapes  on his new label imprint CAJO Records, which displayed new artist and talent Jones has worked with. “Dominionaire” will be Jones first solo record, since the release of “Kingdom Business” in 2008.

Aretha Franklin honors the Queen of Gospel

The Celebration of Life for the Queen of Gospel Dr.  Albertina Walker took place over October 14th and 15th in Chicago, Illinois, the Gospel Music Capital of the World as well as Albertina Walker’s birthplace and home city. The two days of celebration brought the masses from all across the country to pay homage to this Gospel Music Giant.  During the Friday Funeral service, the Queen of Soul, the legendary Aretha Franklin was given an opportunity to share her memories of The Caravans and other gospel groups of yesterday as well as give a rousing rendition of I’ll Fly Away, all of which you can watch above. Apostle Betty Peebles Passes

Thursday, October 14th, 2010 joins with others across the country in mourning the passing of Apostle Betty Poindexter Peebles, Co – Founder and Senior Pastor of the Jericho City of Praise Church in the Washington, DC area on October 12th of cancer. Canton Jones Prepares To Release His Latest Artist, “Milliyon”

Canton Jones has been a busy man these days. His latest compilation album “Kingdom Business 3” debut in the Billboard Top 10 Gospel and Christian charts,  constant tour schedule, and a new solo album due out in January. In addition to all those great things, Canton is releasing another member of his camp to the world.  His latest Christian Rap  artist Milliyon is prepping for the national release of his debut album, “Mass Comm Music” on CaJo Records in stores October 26th.  There is nothing new about Milliyon as this young man has been traveling and opening up for Jones and other artist for almost a decade, and has been featured on past projects such as “Kingdom Business 1 and 2″, “The Password”, and other CaJo Affiliate Albums.

Milliyon is the second artist to be released on Jones imprint, “CaJo Records”. Other Artist Ramona Estell and Erica Cumbo are slated for release in 2011.
