Melvin Williams Named US Music Ambassador&The Melvin Williams Group!!

Melvin Williams of the acclaimed Williams Brothers and solo artist in his own right, has been named US Music Ambassador by the US Department of State, Jazz at Lincoln Center initiative. Williams has assembled a new group called the Melvin Williams Group as he travels with 9 other ensembles chosen to be US Music Ambassadors for the Rhythm Road: American Music Abroad Program.

Demetrius West & Authority’s Debut “I Am A Worshipper”

Indiana Natives Demetrius West & Authority released their first project entitled “I Am A Worshipper” on Tuesday April 5th under the Indiana based, LCP Music Group label.  Writers such as Natalie Wilson, Lamar Campbell, Brian Reeves, Jayson Clayborn and more have graced this project! New Live Music from DeWanye Woods!

Great music keeps coming in this year and DeWayne Woods is adding to the mix.  DeWayne recently recorded a live version of his song “God Can” featuring PJ Morton. GOSPELflava was invited to attend the live session which was streamed live on U-Stream. The recording session created a buzz in social media, as fans were invited to see the behind the scenes musical chemistry between DeWayne and PJ, which we were first introduced to with the anthem, “Let Go”. The two flowed effortlessly and the power was very evident in the room. “God Can” will be the follow up single from DeWayne’s second album, “My Life’s Lyric”.  The single is scheduled to be released later this year and will begin to impact radio soon.

James Fortune’s New Label Signs to Light Records!

James Fortune is bringing his new label “Fiya World Music” to Light Records and eOne Distribution. This  marketing deal will include the new material from James and his dynamic vocal group Fiya, as well as new artists that he plans to sign under the deal. James explains that “he respects the artist that are connected to Light Records and is excited about his future with them.”  We can expect new music from James Fortune and Fiya in early 2012 under the Fiya World Music Label. James Fortune was introduced to the Gospel world in 2005 with their album, “You Survived”, and followed later with the groundbreaking, “I Trust You”, and “I Believe”.
