Kierra Sheard has been quite busy these days, picking up responsibilities as a judge for the new season of Sunday Best and preparing for this year’s Bold Right Life Conference which will feature such heavy hitters as Tasha Cobbs, Karen Clark Sheard, Hezekiah Walker, Isaac Caree and Warryn Campbell. Kierra and her brother J Drew provided us with music to listen to while we wait for the new CD in the form of Second Win. One listen at the intro and all the die hard Clark Sisters fans are sent into pandemonium. The creative geniuses have sampled The Clark Sisters They Were Overcome (By the Word) from the 1980 Is My Living In Vain album. Kierra even gets a chance to sing over the Clark Sisters near the end of the song. Let’s just say we were impressed.
So on today, we present the ORIGINAL for your listening pleasure
The Choir Movement is back! Deitrick Haddon and the League of Xtraordinary Worshippers take the music world by storm with a #1 debut on the Billboard Gospel Albums Chart. The self titeld CD also charted at #3 on the Billboard Gospel and Christian Combined Charts and #21 on the Billboard Top 200.
“Wow, this speaks volumes! People still believe in choir music when it’s really good”, said Haddon upon receiving the news. ” My brothers Gerald Haddon, David Haddon & I worked hard to bring something fresh but yet familiar. This confirms that hard work pays off”. Tyscot President Bryant Scott added, “The very first projects Tyscot presented almost 40 years ago were choirs. We built our early legacy with choir music like John P. Kee & New Life Community Choir. Now in 2014, we have teamed back up with Deitrick, who is one of our success stories, to present a CD and DVD which takes choir music to a new stratosphere.

After 10 years, the nationally acclaimed Chicago Mass Choir will return to their hometown of Chicago to record their 16th live project on Saturday, May 3rd. The Grammy, Dove and Stellar Award nominated choir known for such hits as “I Can Go to The Rock”, “He That Believeth”, “Holy Ghost Power”, “You Love Me”, “Jesus Promised” and “Mighty Good God” has carried the gospel across the country and abroad.
Chicago Mass Choir President Dr. Feranda Williamson expressed her excitement about their 16th Live Recording: “God has truly shown favor over Chicago Mass Choir by allowing us to minister both throughout the United States and abroad for over 23 years! We are blessed to continue to be one of the top recording choirs in the nation and truly are humbled that our music continues to be played on gospel radio stations, the internet and other media. On any given Sunday, there is a church choir or group that sings the music recorded by Chicago Mass Choir. God has favored us with phenomenal singers, musicians and our producers (Percy Gray, Jr. & Jeral Gray, Sr.) to continue our mission to deliver excellence in all aspects of our music ministry.”
Many will remember getting ready for church on Saturday nights and waiting for the 9 o clock hour when the telecast of Reverend Clay Evans and the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church of Chicago would hit the airwaves. The What A Fellowship Hour featured the church’s dynamic 200 voice choir under the direction of Reverend Evans’ sister, Dr. LouDella Evans Reid. When the choir struck up The Lord’s Prayer, you knew you unequivocally THIS WAS CHURCH.
Prepare to relive those memories as the Fellowship Reunion Choir (now known as the Lou Della Evans Reid Traditional Gospel Choir) prepares for their live recording on Sunday, April 27th. “The truth is, we have never stopped singing together”, says octegenarian Dr. Reed. There was such a great outpour and overflow from the 50 years in music ministry and 75th birthday celebration (that resulted in a CD and DVD), then we were together as we celebrated Reverend’s 85th and my 80th birthday that we decided to keep on running as the Lord gives us the strength to do so. Producer Bryant Jones added, “By no means is God finished with Mama Lou and the choir. We’re gonna go back and hit some of the old and add a little bit of the new as well.”

Answering a Divine appointment, Gospel singer/songwriter and traveling evangelist Marvin L Winans gathered 8 members in the basement of his home for what would be the organization and founding of the Perfecting Church. A modest total of 13 people would gather for the first service held on May 27, 1989. Some 25 years later, Perfecting Church stands as a house of worship serving over 5,000 members with its 30 ministries that address the needs of the total man, including the Marvin L. Winans Academy of Performing Arts, the Perfecting Community Care Center, the Amelia Agnes Transitional Home for Women, and the Jenesta McCraw Youth Activity Center. Bishop Winans and the Perfecting Church family are gearing up for a weekend celebration during the month of May. Perfecting Church’s global outreach is felt via its Perfecting Fellowship International with churches in the US as well as in London and South Africa.
And what would a church be without music?????? The music ministry of Perfecting Church was celebrated in two CD’s, Marvin Winans and the Perfected Praise Choir Introducing Perfected Praise (1992) and Marvin Winans and Perfected Praise Choir Friends (2001).
