When you’re part of a musical family, the expectation of strong music potential can run high, fortunately with the case of Tim Bowman, Jr., we can rest easy. The son of noted guitarist Tim Bowman, the younger introduced the saints to “sanctified scat” with his appearance on his aunt Vickie Winans’ smash hit, How I Got Over. That was followed by the release of his independent CD in 2010 featuring Beautiful, which made its way into the top ten. Bowman’s signing with Rodney Jerkins Lifestyle Music Group/Motown Gospel just gets us in gear for great things to happen.
The first radio single I’m Good, written by Jhonte Austin and produced by Jerkins shows a mature and modern sound for Bowman. The single has been serviced to radio and Bowman will make appearances in support of its release.
Preacher, Pastor and Psalmist Marvin Sapp declares victory in Jesus despite trying circumstances with the June 2nd release of his 10th solo CD, You Shall Live on the RCA Inspiration label. “I was in a very transparent space when I recorded this album.” “I wanted to deliver something that was going to encourage those who are in the valleys of their lives, to let them know I get it. I know what it feels like to have your heart ripped out of your chest. But, I also needed them to know that no matter the heartbreak, God’s got us and even the most painful experience can be overcome.”
Pastor Sapp will celebrate the CD’s release with concert appearances in Atlanta, Charlotte and as part of the 30th annual Chicago Gospel Music Festival.
RCA Inspiration announced the addition of award winning songwriter, producer and musician Phillip Bryant to their roster. The North Carolina native and two time Dove Award winner has worked with the likes of Dave Hollister, John P. Kee, Kelly Price, Fantasia, Mary J. Blige, Anthony Hamilton, Trinitee 5:7 and CeCe Winans over the past 10 years and is now set for the release of his first national label effort.
“I’m looking forward to sharing my music with the world and making history with RCA Inspiration,” said Phillip Bryant. “My first single ‘Source’ is a song of both surrender and praise. The simple yet powerful lyrics: ‘I never wanna think I can do this on my own’ is my personal testimony.”
“Phil is the consummate musician: singer, composer and producer,” said Joseph Burney, VP of A&R at RCA Inspiration. “I am enthused to present these gifts to the listeners.”
Leave it to Ashford Sanders to lead an entire restaurant into a moment of worship. The Sunday Best season 5 fan favorite who recently released his single Because You’ve Been Good on Fountain of Life Records was instantly recognized as he encountered the prom night crowd at a local restaurant in Mississippi on a weekend in early May. He was asked to sing and obliged the audience with a verse of Something About the Name Jesus. What he didn’t expect was the entire restaurant (including patrons and waitstaff) to join him in the rousing rendition. The moment was captured via cellphone and posted to social media sites. That musical event caught the attention of the local news and the social media post has garnered over 3 million views.
