Lecrae rubbed some “fans” the wrong way on the 4th of July when he posted this reminder on Twitter that not all people were free on July 4th, 1776.

Many responded angrily with claims of “race-baiting” or accusing him of making everything a “racial issue”. Lecrae later posted this:
This isn’t anti-American. This is remembering that all our histories are different.
