Pastor David Wright Gives Us Reasons To Clap Our Hands

Wednesday, May 11th, 2016

DW CYHPastor David Wright perpetuates the Sunday morning church experience with the release of Clap Your Hands, his second installment from the New York Fellowship Mass Choir – Next Generation.  “I am building on the legacy laid by my Dad, Pastor Timothy Wright, when he started the New York Fellowship Mass Choir over 15 years ago.  We want to do all that we can to make sure that the choir sound is kept in tact, as the trend is that people are doing away with choirs and replacing them with praise team and ensembles.  This album shows that the choir is still viable. The title song,  Clap Your Hands is an old call and response song that we used to sing in the church a long time ago that we put a new spin on.”

Clap Your Hands features some of New York’s finest assembled en masse as well as performances from Wright’s own Godfather Records roster.  There are cameo appearances from the incomparable Doobie Powell, Roger Hambrick,  Leon Lacey, Timiney Figueroa Caton, Monique Walker, and Evangelist Rubenstine McClure.

Clap Your Hands is available on all digital outlets.

The Rising Star of Jekalyn Carr

Thursday, May 5th, 2016

Jekalyn Carr FullWe came to know of the exuberance of fifteen year old Jekalyn Carr when she ignited a fire with the release of her 2013 single, Greater is Coming.  The dynamic singer and evangelist would chart in the top 5 on Billboard and take home a Stellar Award win all by the age of 15.  Some three years later, Carr returned to the recording booth this time for a live recording, Jekalyn’s very first, entitled The Life Project.  GOSPELflava caught up with Jekalyn to talk about her new project, her mentors and what keeps her going.

GOSPELflava: Ok, set the stage for us, its 3 years since the release of Greater is Coming, what’s Jekalyn Carr been up to?

Jekalyn Carr: Well, I did my first national live recording October 22, 2015 and the result of that is my new album The Life Project.  My first single from the CD,  You’re Bigger is at radio and I am touring with singing and preaching dates, so its nothing short of amazing and all for God’s glory.

Jonathan Nelson Talks Fearless To GOSPELflava

Wednesday, May 4th, 2016

Jonathan Nelson-FEARLESS album coverFearless is the fifth album from multiple Stellar Award winning singer/songwriter Jonathan Nelson.  GOSPELflava caught up with the worship leader and shared a few moments to talk about the new album, new label and other things.

GOSPELflava: Jonathan, bring us up to speed since our last conversation.

Jonathan Nelson: I signed with a brand new record company Eone Music, recorded and released a new CD entitled Fearless and it debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart.    I told Eone when we started talking that I wanted to expand and I wanted to  infiltrate the Gospel market with a stronger brand and a stronger sound, having a stand out kind of approach, and  Eone helped me to do just that. Everything about this CD is me living out the word fearless, taking the risks, doing what I have never done before and being out the box so to speak.  All of the background singers that are singing on the CD, we have never really worked together officially as a team, some of the background singers I had never met in person, the band had never really worked together,  we maybe did one record together but not really as a team effort with the band or singers.  I  had never worked with Da Truth, Tye Tribbett, Kim, Dorinda or Sonnie Badu as it relates to partnering or collaborating on music, so that was completely different.  I just took a leap of faith.   I believed what God would do and His hand of approval is on it,  so everything about this CD, there is no script for it, it is really me living out what fearless is in me.
