In between a hectic touring and performance schedule as well as preparation for the release of his new project, Bishop Bryan Andrew Wilson called the saints both young and old together for a time of refreshing in the first annual Holy Convocation of the Bapastogic Movement beginning Sunday, April 28th through Saturday, May 4th in Perry Florida. Wilson drew on his upbringing in the Baptist, Apostolic and Church of God in Christ (COGIC) churches to form the new inter denominational group with an emphasis on youth . Highlighting the week long confab are day and evening sessions with speakers including Pastor Duranice Pace of the Pace Sisters and Dr. Joyce Cohen, a musical celebration and the official message being delivered by Wilson on Saturday.
Wilson’s new CD is set for an early summer release.
Lisa Knowles announced the opening of registration for the Evolution of Quartet Retreat to be held in Memphis, Tennessee June 28 through June 30. The gathering will offer informational workshops as well as networking sessions for aspiring singers, songwriters, musicians, producers and artist management representatives. Special guests for the confab include , Teddy Campbell, Tim Rogers, Alexis Spight and Stan Jones. Highlighting the event will be the CD Release concert of Lisa Knowles and The Brown Singers.

Dr. Teresa Hairston’s Gospel Heritage Foundation 16th Annual Praise and Worship Conference returns to the city of Atlanta the week of February 14th, 2013 with some of the nation’s foremost worship leaders in attendance. This year’s schedule includes William McDowell, Dr. Judith Christie McAllister, Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Pastor Wess Morgan, VaShawn Mitchell and others. One of the highlights of this year’s convention is a heritage session with the incomparable Edwin Hawkins.

This year’s Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) will take place in Tampa, Florida at the Tampa Convention Center from August 13th-19th. The week will be filled with events. There will be showcases, concerts, daily services, and a special concert commemorating the late Reverand James Cleveland, founder of GMWA. Verizon “How Sweet The Sound” will sponsor two midnight musicals that will feature: Kirk Franklin, James Fortune & F.I.Y.A, Rance Allen, John P.Kee, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Marvin Sapp, Jessica Reedy, and JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise. GMWA events will also include the Crystal Mic Media Awards Ceremony, which recognizes achievement in gospel music radio and media. Congregants with gather en masse for the 78th Session of the National Convention of Gospel Choirs & Choruses covening in the city of Atlanta on August 6 – August 12, 2011.
