Phil Thornton Moves To RCA Inspiration VP Post

Phil ThorntonIn the realignment that shifts RCA Inspiration to the Provident Music Group,  news now comes that Phil Thornton has been appointed Senior VP and General Manager of RCA Inspiration, succeeding Geo Bivins.  Thornton has served for the last four years as VP/GM of of urban inspirational at eOne Music.

“Phil Thornton is a demonstrated leader and visionary with an infectious passion for Gospel music and breaking artists,” said Terry Hemmings. “We are thrilled to have him leading the RCA Inspiration team with its renewed focus on the future while continuing to honor the imprint’s rich decades-long heritage.”

RCA Inspiration Heads West To Nashville

RCA Inspiration announced a shift of operations as the label home to mega Gospel superstars Donnie McClurkin, Israel Houghton, MarvinRCA Inspiration Sapp, Le’Andria Johnson, Fred Hammond and more will now exist under the umbrella of the Nashville based Provident Music Group division of Sony Records.

Jovonta Patton Debut’s at #1 on Billboard Gospel Charts

Their energetic vibe and vocal power have captured the attention of many top names and figures in Gospel Music. Sho Baraka Returns to the Christian Hip Hop Scene with New Label Humble Beast

After leaving Reach Records in 2011 over what he felt were directional differences, Amisho Baraka has popped up here and there with a collab, or project almost as a call home to let mom know he’s ok, but to his fans and supporters. It appears though that Sho is ready to get back into the full swing of things after an announcement tweet from Humble Beast’s account “Welcome to the Family, @AmIShoBaraka. Sho Baraka + Humble Beast — Humble Beast Records”.

Then Humble beast releases a statement and video via their website,

Marquis Boone Enterprises Celebrates Good Success

BooneAtlanta’s Marquis Boone in a short time has gone from new kid on the block to music powerhouse.  His Marquis Boone Enterprises has racked up 6 Billboard #1 singles in the last year from breakout artists Casey J and Bri (Briana Babineaux).

Casey J’s meteoric rise begin with her doing what she does best,  serving as Worship Leader at Fresh Start Church in Duluth, Ga.  Her Casey Jrousing rendition of Fill Me Up wowed the attendees in Sunday Worship to the point that Boone had her record it and serviced the song to radio.  Fill Me Up connected with audiences nationwide hitting #1 on the Billboard radio chart and spending some 14  non consecutive weeks in the top spot.   Her debut CD, The Truth was released taking the top spot on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart and making way for the second single, I’m Yours to spend some 4 weeks at #1 on the radio chart.

BrianaMarquis discovered Bri (Briana Babineaux) via a social media posting of her singing Tonex’s Make Me Over.  The Youtube video amassed over 1.5 million views.  Boone quickly signed her and recorded I’ll Be The One and made history.  The song made Bri the the first artist to debut in the #1 spot on the Digital Gospel chart without aid of radio airplay, a national television appearance or prior sales history. Keys To My Heart held the number 1 spot on the Billboard Gospel albums chart for 2 consecutive weeks.

 

The Williams Singers Join The Blackberry Records Family
