One of the newest and vibrant talents in Gospel Music has a lot to celebrate. Independent Artist Jovonta Patton new album, “Finally Living”, debut at #1 on the Billboard Gospel Charts. This is significant for Patton as he released this album independently without a major label or distribution. Patton is no stranger to the industry as he and his dynamic group, “Deliverance For Youth” (DFY) have been making strides in the industry. Their energetic vibe and vocal power have captured the attention of many top names and figures in Gospel Music. His Billboard accomplishment proves how the power of Gospel music stands true even in turbulent times. Patton says, “It feels great and its the exact reason why the gospel was formed to encourage and strengthen us in times of weakness. “Finally Living” is available on all digital media outlets.

On June 9th, Fantasia went live on social media with Dennis Reed and GAP singing Necessary, a track from his 2005 CD Water Walker. The song caused quite a stir in the rehearsal as the presence of the Lord permeated the room and tears begin to flow. The Season Three American Idol winner begin to share out of her own personal experiences how the song ministers to her and how the Lord has kept her in spite of her mistakes, each experience was necessary. The video went viral, being shared over 300,000 times and generating upwards of ten million views.
Over on iTunes, the album rode the top 20 through the week’s end and the single made its debut at number 11 on the Hot Gospel Songs charts. Fantasia and the group performed the song at her concert in Houston and she commented on the impact of the song and of how the testimonies from people who were touched by the song continue to pour in. Reed got in on the commentary and added the following via the group’s facebook page:

Grammy Award Winning Gospel Artist Kirk Franklin has kicked off the second leg of his, Twenty Years in One Night Tour. Before going on a brief hiatus, the tour hit several cities across the country and opened to rave reviews. The tour has been filled with special appearances from Tasha Cobbs, Marvin Sapp, Geoffrey Golden, and others. During the Jacksonville stop this past weekend, Franklin gave the microphone to Josiah “Jojo” Martin during his song, “Intercession”.
Martin is a newly signed artist to Grammy Winner PJ Morton’s label, Morton Records, and has been a background vocalist, writer, and producer in the music industry for over a decade. While Martin did his ad-lib parts the song became very personal. For the past three years he’s battled kidney disease and is currently on the waiting list to receive a new one. At the age of 31 the disease has had a profound impact on his health and he’s currently undergoing dialysis treatment.
