GOSPELflava joins others across the country mourning the passing of acclaimed Gospel songwriter and musician Herbert Pee Wee Pickard (seated at the piano). A child prodigy and son of a COGIC pastor, Pickard grew up in Detroit, Michigan and trained, directed and accompanied choirs as well as a number of the legends of Gospel including Reverend James Cleveland and the Voices of Tabernacle (his piano accompaniment is heard on their first hit, The Love of God), Brother Joe May, Professor Alex Bradford and a long stint with the Original Gospel Harmonettes.
Pickard recorded two albums for Savoy Records, one an instrumental and the other with his group, the Pickard Singers.
