Take 6 Celebrating 25 Years With World Tour

TAKE_6_ColorThe multiple award winning acapella group Take 6 celebrates 25 years of recording and performing with a world tour beginning May 7th in New York. The year long tour will include concert performances in the US as well as overseas including Germany, England, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Japan, Australia, Norway, eastern Europe and South America.

Their self titled debut CD, released in 1988 won 2 Grammy awards and landed on Billboard’s Jazz, Contemporary Christian and Gospel charts. With 15 albums to their credit, the group comprised of Claude McKnight, Mark Kibble, Joel Kibble, Dave Thomas, Alvin Chea and Khristian Dentley have garnered a total of 10 Grammy Awards, 10 Dove Awards, a Soul Train Award, and 2 NAACP Image Awards

Gospelflava sends “Birthday Shout Outs” to Take 6’s Alvin “Vinnie” Chea (November 2) , Brian Courtney Wilson (November 1) and Bryan Wilson (November 3) as well as congratulations to Meghan Williams who tied the knot back in October.

Fred Hammond announced on Thursday via social cam alongside David Hollister that his new group United Tenors will not include  Brian Courtney Wilson due to contractual obligations.  United Tenors will have a single out in December and the full project is scheduled to be released in March, 2013.

Mali Music also announced via Twitter news of a new single to be released at the top of the year and a new album to be released in the first  quarter of 2013.  Mali Music is currently featured on  I Shall Live from the CD Impact by Canada’s premier Gospel group,  Sharon Riley and Faith Chorale.

Take 6 Celebrates 25 Years, Tours Europe and Rerecords First Project

Ten time Grammy and Dove Award Winners Take 6 kick off the month of November on a 2 week tour of Europe including stops in the following cities: St. Petersburg and Moscow, Russia, Ingolstadt, Germany, Madrid, Spain, Prague, Czech Republic, Milan, Italy  and Lugano, Switzerland.   In early October, the group found time amidst a hectic touring schedule to record a very special 25th Anniversary Edition of their first album which featured classics such as  Mary Don’t You Weep, Goldmine, Milky White Way, Get Away Jordan and David .

Their latest project, One released earlier this year on the Shanachie label was the first to feature new member Khristian Dentley.  Longtime member Cedric Dent retired from the group in 2011 after taking a position with Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN (limiting his ability to travel).
