Richard Smallwood is without a doubt an authentic Gospel music legend.  Hugely influenced by the works of the Hawkins family, Smallwood went on to make a name for himself fusing together the worlds of Classical and Gospel music.  Penning timeless classics like “Total Praise;” “Center of My Joy;” and “I Love the Lord” and having them recorded and performed by Whitney Houston, Destiny’s Child, Kelly Price and Aretha Franklin have helped to cement his place in the Gospel music stratosphere.  (more…)

Richard Smallwood’s Anthology Bows At Number 1

RCA Inspiration celebrates Anthology, the new disc from celebrated maestro Richard Smallwood making its debut in the number one spot oRichard Smallwood CD Covern the Billboard Gospel Albums chart.  “I’m elated that ANTHOLOGY has entered on the number one spot on the Billboard Top Gospel Chart,” said Richard Smallwood. “Personally, this project is the most important recording that I’ve done, so it adds more to the excitement that people are excited. I’m so appreciative of their support!”

The two disc project is a celebration of Smallwood’s four decades in Gospel music and features his backing ensemble Vision flanked by noteworthy performances from Angela Winbush and former Richard Smallwood Singers alum Dottie Jones .

Richard Smallwood Live Recording In Washington DC

Richard BMIOn Saturday, August 23rd, all roads will lead to Evangel Cathedral in Upper Marlboro, Maryland for Anthology, the highly anticipated live recording from Richard Smallwood with Vision. Anthology is Smallwood’s first live recording in in five years and marks 13 years since he’s recorded live in his hometown of Washington, D.C.

The recording caps off a year of celebration for Smallwood.  He was feted at the BMI Trailblazer of Gospel Awards during Stellar Award weekend and was celebrated at the BET Celebration of Gospel.
