Bryan Courtney Wilson Celebrated At ASCAP Awards

BCwilsonwffThe 29th Annual ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Awards were handed out in Los Angeles on June 23rd and Motown Gospel recording artist Bryan Courtney Wilson took home the honor for the Top Gospel Song for his chart topping composition Worth Fighting For.  Tyscot recording artists Anthony Brown and group therAPy performed a rousing rendition of their chart topping single Worth capping off the evening’s musical performances.  Other Gospel music winners are as follows:

Smokie Norful Receives Top Honors at 2015 ASCAP Awards

Smokie Norful at the keyboardThe American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers held its 28th annual Rhythm and Soul Awards honoring the songwriters and publishers of the most performed songs on the charts.

In the Gospel category, top honors went to Bart Millard for I Can Only Imagine (as recorded by Tamela Mann).  Other award recipients include Smokie Norful (who performed his composition No Greater Love during the evening), William McDowell for Withholding Nothing, Erica Campbell for Help and David Bratton for Every Praise (as recorded by Bishop Hezekiah Walker).  A full list of Gospel award recipients can be found here: 2015 ASCAP Top Gospel Songs

The Williams Brothers and Smokie Norful Honored By ASCAP

Smokie Norful at the keyboardASCAP paid special honors to Pastor Smokie Norful and The Williams Brothers at its 6th Annual Morning Glory Breakfast held during Stellar Awards weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada.  In addition to recognizing  the ASCAP affiliated Stellar Award nominees, Pastor Norful received the ASCAP “Spirit of Song” Award while The Williams Brothers received the ASCAP “Gospel Icon” Award. The event was co sponsored by eOne entertainment and was  hosted by Michelle Williams with performances from eOne recording artists  Dorinda Clark-Cole and William McDowell.

Anthony Brown Takes Honors At ASCAP Urban Music Awards 2014

anthonybrownThe American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) honored the songwriters and publishers for the most performed songs in 2013 at the 27th Annual  Rhythm & Soul Music Awards on Thursday, June 26th. Tyscot recording artist Anthony Brown was honored as his composition Testimony was recognized as the Top Gospel Song.  Other Gospel songs celebrated were 1 on 1 (Zacardi Cortez), A Little More Jesus (Erica Campbell), Break Every Chain (Tasha Cobbs), Clean This House (Isaac Carree), Every Praise (Hezekiah Walker), God Will Make a Way (Shirley Caesar), Greater is Coming (Jakalyn Carr), Here in our Praise (Fred Hammond and United Tenors), Hold On (James Fortune), If He Did It Before (Tye Tribbett), Its Not Over (Israel & New Breed) and Sunday Morning (Mary Mary).  Lecrae, Anthony Brown and Jekalyn Carr performed during the awards ceremony.

ASCAP Salutes Tye Tribbett, Warryn Campbell & Edwin Hawkins During Stellar Weekend

warryncampbelltheindustAs part of its Centennial celebration, The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) will honor Gospel Music during Stellar Award weekend at the 5th annual ASCAP Presents: Morning Glory breakfast. While recognizing the 2014 Stellar nominees, the breakfast will also pay tribute to Grammy Award-winning artist Edwin Hawkins with the Gospel Icon Award, and Tye Tribbett and Warryn Campbell with the newly-established Spirit of Song Award.

Mary Mary to be honored at ASCAP’s Rhythm and Soul Music Awards!!

The dynamic duo known as Mary Mary are the epitome of being  able to create gospel music that resonates not only with churchgoers, but those who may not be avid gospel music lovers. They reach the entire world! They are being honored  at the 24th ASCAP Rhythm& Soul Music Awards with the “Golden Note” award. This award is bestowed upon artists that have achieved great milestones in their musical career, so it’s no surprise that Mary Mary (Erica&Tina Campbell) will be recipients of this great honor! We congratulate Mary Mary and wish them much more success and longevity in their musical endeavors!

James Fortune to be honored at the ASCAP Rhythm&Soul Awards

Gospel recording artist James Fortune will be honored at the 24th ASCAP Rhythm&Soul Awards being held on friday June 24th, 2011 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The Rhythm&Soul awards honors accomplished songwriters and publishers in the last year in the Hip Hop, R&B, and Gospel genres. James Fortune will be honored for his songwriting prowess on two songs from his latest project: “I Believe” , and “Encore” (the title track). James Fortune& FIYAH became renowned in 2009 with the amazing success of their single “I Trust You”. They have continued to record, tour, and are working on a new project set to be released in 2012.  Congratulations are in order!! Let’s keep supporting, making, and pushing gospel music!
