BET Celebration of Gospel & The Sheards To Premiere This Weekend

Tune in Sunday night beginning at 8pm for the Celebration of Gospel ,  “Forward In Faith”,  hosted by Steve Harvey. Then stay tuned for the premiere of the new  reality series, “The Sheards” featuring Bishop J Drew Sheard, Karen Clark Sheard, Kierra Sheard, and J. Drew Sheard II.

Forever Jones Makes Foray Into Reality TV

First came the Marys, then there was word of pilots being shot for Kim Burrell and Marvin Sapp followed by the announcement of the adventures of Karen Clark ShforeverJones1eard, Bishop J Drew Sheard and their musical children  followed closely by Michelle Williams and her sisters. Well now,  Gospel Music reality tv just keeps growing as Billy Hall, EVP of Programming and Production for Bounce TV announced yesterday that production is to begin later this month on a reality show featuring the Singing Joneses’ (aka Forever Jones).  This marks the network’s first ever original reality series.

The network has ordered six episodes and principal production will take place in the family’s hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana.

 

“The Sheards” to Debut on BET April 7th

Drew Sheard, his wife GRAMMY Award Winning  Karen Clark Sheard of,  ‘The Clark Sisters”, and their talented children , Stellar Award Winning Gospel Artist Kierra Sherad, and Producer J. Drew “JDS” Sheard, will star in “The Sheards” . The  show will debut on April 7th on BET, and  center around the family juggling their lives as one of the top acts in Gospel Music, running their new label Karew Records, and their church Greater Emmanuel Institution Church of God In Christ in Detroit, MI. Gospel 411: Williams Brothers, Ted Winn, Hez, Harvey Watkins, Clark Sisters, Paul Morton and more

Tuesday saw the release of the new project from Bishop Paul Morton.  Ted Winn composed 2 songs for the project; Living In His Favor (the Curse is Broken) and The Best Is Yet to Come.  Many will remember The Best Is Yet to Come from Ted and Sheri’s The Healing Starts Here 2001 CD.  Karen Clark Sheard joins Bishop Morton on a revamped remake of the Thomas Whitfield classic, The Grass Withereth. There is also a nice family track featuring Bishop Morton, son PJ and daughter Jasmine. Jasmine’s husband and film producer Elvin Ross is generating buzz around his documentary that continues the story of the descendants of Kunta Kinteh, popularized in the Alex Haley Roots miniseries of the 1970s. In Clark Sisters news, congratulations goes out to Bishop J. Drew Sheard (husband of Karen, father of Kierra and J Drew III and Karew Record Label co founder) on his election to the 12 member General Board for the 6 million member Church of God in Christ denomination.  Sheard received over 2,600 votes during the elections held in St. Louis at the Holy Convocation.

Producer Stan Jones tweeted about studio time with Harvey Watkins Jr. (of the Canton Spirituals) and The Williams Brothers and Lee Williams.  Projects are scheduled for release sometime in 2013

When does Donald Lawrence sleep? Following his performance on the weekend at the COGIC confab in St. Louis, Lawrence alloted time for studio work on a new Hezekiah Walker project.  Lawrence also noted that  Love Fellowship alum Timiney Figueroa – Caton (who is currently featured on the new single from the Kurt Carr Singers) is featured on a new Hez track.  Donald Lawrence and Company will celebrate New Years in London, England.

 

Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir records a new project this weekend.  Plans are underway for BTC to be a part of the Obama Inauguration festivities.

It’s official! Bishop J. Drew, Karen, Kierra, and J. Drew Sheard II, will appear in a reality show slated to debut on BET in 2013. The Gospel Family just wrapped the series that will show the daily lives of this legendary family told through the eyes of Kierra and J. Drew Sheard. Bishop J. Drew confirmed this news in this month’s issue of Gospel Today Magazine.
