Stellar Award Winners Announced, Big Night For Anthony Brown

Gospel’s biggest nigAJBwinsht did not disappoint as the 31st Annual Stellar Awards returned to the city of Las Vegas to celebrate Gospel music and the people who make it.  Anthony Brown and group therAPy made Stellar Award history as the Tyscot recording artists took home statues in the 10 categories they were nominated in.  Other multiple winners included Charles Jenkins and Fellowship Chicago, the Rance Allen Group, Tasha Cobbs and Tina Campbell.  One of the most memorable moments was the James Cleveland Award tribute to the late Olanda Draper featuring a reunion of his beloved choir the Associates coupled with fellow Brat Pack members Ricky Dillard, Donald Lawrence and Hezekiah Walker.  The 2 hour telecast will make its debut on Sunday, March 6 on TV One and then begin its syndicated run in 125 markets between March 12 and April 10th.  .  A full list of the winners is found below.

Malaco Music Group Signs Chicago’s Kevin Vasser

Malaco Music Group’s DA Johnson announced the signing of Kevin Vasser to the Malaco Music Group roster.  Vasser currently serves as Director of Worship and Arts for Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church of Chicago and is featured on Charles Jenkins and Fellowship Chicago’s Best of Both World’s CD.

With a full project slated for release in 2013, radio will  have the lead single, “Only You Can Deliver” featuring DeWayne Woods very shortly.   The single and the project was produced by Kevin along with help from Phillip Feaster

Mark your calendars for the release of Pastor Charles Jenkins and Fellowship Chicago’s The Best of Both Worlds DVD and Deluxe Edition digital version on November 20th.  The Best of Both Worlds CD, the first release for the Inspired People/EMI Gospel label spent three consecutive weeks in the top spot on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart and Awesome, the lead single has remained at #1 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs charts for 15 weeks.  Charles Jenkins and Fellowship Chicago received eight nominations for the 28th Annual Stellar Awards including  Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Choir of the Year and Traditional CD of the Year.
