Composer V. Michael McKay writes the songs that inspire people to sing all across the world. A sample of his body of work includes The Battle Is Th
e Lord’s and The Good Shepherd (both recorded by Yolanda Adams) , The Potter’s House (Tramaine Hawkins), Intercession (Kim McFarland), All In His Hands (Florida Mass Choir and Dr. Charles G Hayes’ Cosmopolitan Church of Prayer Choir), Broken But I’m Healed (Byron Cage), The Corinthian Song (Kathy Taylor), I’m Still Here (Albertina Walker) and Oh Jesus (Dorothy Norwood). McKay adds to his list of classics with the release of his new song Rest (For My Yoke Is Easy) making the rounds at radio.
The two time Dove Award winner said the song’s strong and deliberate message are derived from scripture and his upbringing. “These were words that I heard my mother and her mother recite with such conviction as I was growing up. When we realize that Jesus gives us a special invitation (to come to Him) in Matthew 11:25-30 and the invite allows us to bring our worries, our frustrations and our fears and in turn He gives us his rest. We can exchange our weakness for His strength. I Peter 5:7 is interspersed in the middle of the song, and what a joy it is to know we can cast every care upon Jesus and realize the load is not too heavy for Him to bear. For the weary, wounded and disappointed, there is rest. The world is teetering in a state of uncertainty and confusion, and in the midst of the turmoil. God offers us His peace and his rest.
A special release of the song heads to digital outlets in a couple of weeks.

The Bible says the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and newcomer Trinity Dawson is a recipient of God ordered steps. The University of Toledo Division 1 running back had his sights set on a football career until his plans were redefined by Divine intervention. Dawson soon realized, “purpose is not one-dimensional; but, when surrendered to God,
every aspect of who I am is for His glory.”
Dawson now finds himself in the right place as he presents music and melodies both near and dear to his heart on With All I Am – The EP. Counting Israel Houghton, Fred Hammond, Tye Tribbett, Hillsong United, John Legend and Stevie Wonder as some of his influences, he carefully weaves together the sound of progressive praise music colored by urban influences. The EP is available digitally online and a full project hits stores in the summer.

Newly signed Motown Gospel artist Brian Courtney Wilson pulls out all the stops for his first live recording session on July 25th. The event takes place at Pastor Rudy Rasmus’ St. John’s United Methodist Church in the city of Houston. The album entitled, “Worth Fighting For” will be Wilson’s debut release on the Motown Gospel label with production duties handled by the very capable Aaron Lindsey.
Lindsey could hardly contain his joy in preparing for the session. “I’m truly honored to see this recording come together. Brian’s songs are lyrically and musically so relevant to the current hybrid sound of worship and gospel that this recording is going to be amazing!” Wilson echoed the same sentiments, “I am so thankful to be recording new music with this team and to share in the experience with my friends, family and supporters. In some ways it feels like a long time coming…in other ways it feels like it is right on time.”
