Karew Records celebrates the success of David Daughtry as his self titled debut CD bows at #12 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart. “On behalf of Bishop J. JJ Hairston sets the record straight about his continued recordings with Youthful Praise. “People always ask me if I’m going to go out on my own and do my own thing. I think Youthful Praise is a part of what I do so I’d never make a J.J. Hairston record. It will always be J.J. Hairston & Youthful Praise.” Looking back, Hairston admits to never having intentions to lead the aggregation. “I joined just to sing tenor. Youthful Praise taught me to be a leader. I didn’t form the group. It was already there when I got there but they made me a leader and that’s why I appreciate the group as a whole.
Hairston and YP are excited about the October 28th release of their 7th live CD, I See Victory on Light Records. The 17 track disc features the choir and assistance from Donnie McClurkin, Karen Clark Sheard, Vashawn Mitchell, Jason Nelson and Deon Kipping. Radio has responded to “It Pushed Me” as it rose to #13 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart and “Bless Me” (featuring a rousing lead by Donnie McClurkin) is #27 on the Gospel Airplay chart.
Its a #1 debut for Karew Records and Motown Gospel as Graceland, the new disc from Kierra Sheard debuts at #1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart. The album was also #33 on the Billboard 200. Kierra participated in release events in both Atlanta and Charlotte and is making preparation for her 9th annual Bold Right Life convention which takes place on August 7-9 in Detroit.

While we expectantly await the July release of Graceland, Kierra Sheard shows the world that she is not alloting any time to watch the grass grow. She is all about the business of brand awareness and impact. This week, Sheard unveils a new hosiery line during a promotional stop in the Windy City. This is in addition to her hosting a radio show, authoring Sing Girl Sing, a children’s book and hosting her annual Bold Right Life conference in August.
Kierra Sheard has been quite busy these days, picking up responsibilities as a judge for the new season of Sunday Best and preparing for this year’s Bold Right Life Conference which will feature such heavy hitters as Tasha Cobbs, Karen Clark Sheard, Hezekiah Walker, Isaac Caree and Warryn Campbell. Kierra and her brother J Drew provided us with music to listen to while we wait for the new CD in the form of Second Win. One listen at the intro and all the die hard Clark Sisters fans are sent into pandemonium. The creative geniuses have sampled The Clark Sisters They Were Overcome (By the Word) from the 1980 Is My Living In Vain album. Kierra even gets a chance to sing over the Clark Sisters near the end of the song. Let’s just say we were impressed.
