While we expectantly await the July release of Graceland, Kierra Sheard shows the world that she is not alloting any time to watch the grass grow. She is all about the business of brand awareness and impact. This week, Sheard unveils a new hosiery line during a promotional stop in the Windy City. This is in addition to her hosting a radio show, authoring Sing Girl Sing, a children’s book and hosting her annual Bold Right Life conference in August.

Kierra Sheard has been quite busy these days, picking up responsibilities as a judge for the new season of Sunday Best and preparing for this year’s Bold Right Life Conference which will feature such heavy hitters as Tasha Cobbs, Karen Clark Sheard, Hezekiah Walker, Isaac Caree and Warryn Campbell. Kierra and her brother J Drew provided us with music to listen to while we wait for the new CD in the form of Second Win. One listen at the intro and all the die hard Clark Sisters fans are sent into pandemonium. The creative geniuses have sampled The Clark Sisters They Were Overcome (By the Word) from the 1980 Is My Living In Vain album. Kierra even gets a chance to sing over the Clark Sisters near the end of the song. Let’s just say we were impressed.

This year’s event will honor Motown Records founder and creator of the smash hit MOTOWN THE MUSICAL, Berry Gordy, American Express CEO & Chairman, Ken Chenault, visual artist, Carrie Mae Weems, entertainment trailblazer, Ice Cube and the iconic Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin.
Clark Sheard is also gearing up for the release of Sunday Morning, the first track from her highly anticipated Live In Chicago CD on Karew Records produced by Donald Lawrence. Karew Records will also release a new project from Kierra Sheard as well as the solo debut of Praise and Worship leader David Daughtry.
“BET Honors” will premiere during Black History Month on Monday, February 24.
Habakkuk Music celebrates another win as In the Sanctuary, the debut project from the Temple of Deliverance Women’s Choir ascends to #10 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums Chart. while Everybody Praise, the infectious single featuring Carla Tolbert Taylor re enters the Billboard Gospel Songs chart at #25.
The project produced by Derrick Starks and recorded last summer featured stand out performances by the 200 voice ensemble featuring guest appearances by Lisa Page Brooks, Tamela Mann and Karen Clark Sheard.

Now comes word of a November 4th date set for the Live Recording of JJ Hairston and Youthful Praise. All roads will lead to the First Cathedral in Bloomfield, Connecticut. A number of guests will be on hand for the worship experience including Donnie McClurkin, Karen Clark Sheard, VaShawn Mitchell and Pastor Jason Nelson.
Karew Records, the label home of Karen Clark Sheard, Kierra Sheard, The Clark Sisters and Jonathan Nelson announced news of the label’s new partnership with Entertainment One Music beginning with the live recording of Karen Clark Sheard on September 9th in Chicago produced by Donald Lawrence.
The two entities already share a connection via the BET hit reality series The Sheards. “We are excited to extend the eOne relationship with the Sheard family beyond television into music as well through this new partnership with Karew Records,” said Phil Thornton, Vice President of Marketing and New Business Development at eOne Music, Nashville.
The label also indicated that Johnathan Nelson’s latest project, Finish Strong will continue its distribution via Motown Gospel and the next CDs from Kierra Sheard and the Clark Sisters will also be handled by Motown Gospel
Mark your calendars for June 18th, when all roads will lead to Dr. Bill Winston’s Living Word Christian Center in Chicago for the live recording celebrating award winning singer/songwriter/producer Donald Lawrence’s 20 years in gospel music. Some of music’s best and brightest will be on hand to celebrate this momentous ocassion, including gospel royalty Karen Clark Sheard and Kierra Sheard, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Ted & Sheri, Faith Evans, Lalah Hathaway, Kelly Price and more.
The live recording in Chicago will mark the first collaboration between Lawrence’s Quiet Water Entertainment production company and eOne Music in their partnership, Lawrence’s live recording for Volume II will take place in Charlotte, NC with the Tri-City Singers and other guests at a later date.
Motown Gospel announced the signing of Micah Stampley. His 2005 debut CD The Songbook of Micah was released on Bishop T D Jakes’ Dexterity Sounds/EMI Gospel label and featured the hit Take My Life/Holiness.
Stampley had this to say about his signing: “I’m excited to be working with Ken Pennell, Larry Blackwell, and the Motown Gospel family to take my ministry and career to the next level. It’s great to be home with a new start, a new vision, a new passion, and a new sound that I’m ready to share with the world.” A studio project is in the works featuring production from Asaph Alex Ward and guest appearances from Donnie McClurkin and Karen Clark Sheard. The project is scheduled for a winter release.
