RCA Inspiration Racks Up 2 Grammy Awards

Kirkfranklin1RCA Inspiration did the happy dance when the envelopes were opened at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards on Monday, February 15th as they took home Grammy statues in two categories.  Kirk Franklin received his 10th Grammy for Best Gospel Performance/Song for his hit single “Wanna Be Happy?” and Israel Houghton was awarded his 6th Grammy in the category of Best Gospel Album for Covered: Alive In Asia.

“We are very proud of Kirk and Israel and their honors from The Recording Academy at this year’s GRAMMY® Awards,” said Geo Bivins, General Manager of RCA Inspiration. “We congratulate the innovating and inspiring work that they have done and continue to do.”

Christon Gray Set To Release The Glory Album

CG_GLORY_FINAL_300Mark your calendars for March 11th as Christon Gray releases his second solo project, The Glory Album on Kirk Franklin’s Fo Yo Soul label.  The multi talented rapper, singer, songwriter and producer topped the Billboard Gospel chart as a member of WLAK (We Live As Kings) with their self titled debut in 2013 followed by School of Roses,  his premiere solo album charting in the top 5 on Billboard’s R & B chart in 2014.

“Christon is one of the most exciting, young voices in urban music today,” says Kirk Franklin.  “We are thrilled to be able to partner with him to cultivate his influence in the flourishing Christian Hip Hop market and to expand his platform into the mainstream.”

The Jambalaya Project is a Raleigh based youth enrichment program. This series of music journalism workshops introduces youth to cultural diversity through music and the arts while enhancing their reading, writing and social skills. This year marks its 10 year anniversary and was created by Judith Guest, a professional writer and owner of Perfecting The Persona. To date, it has enrolled over 300 y20150727_163021_resizedouth. This Summer’s participants are Ivori McNeil, Christina Alston, Zoe Brannon, Jaylen Peacox, Kira Matthews, Kourney Privette & Koury Privette. They conducted the following interview with the Grammy nominated and Stellar Award winning The Walls Group. The Texas based contemporary gospel group on Kirk Franklin’s Dallas based Fo Yo Soul record label. It’s a joint venture with RCA records. They consist of 4 siblings; Darrel, Rhea, Paco and Asia. They’re just a chip off the old block from a musically inclined family of 10. Their signature sound and heart for God lends credibility to the motto “Everything is bigger in Texas!” You’ll find that they can’t contain it. The revelation can come anytime and anywhere whether you find yourself on the subway or at a concert. Their music will command you to rise from your seat, dance and rejoice.

RCA Inspiration Celebrates Four Grammy Nominations

Travis GreeneThe nominations for the 58th Annual Grammy Awards brought great joy to the RCA Inspiration camp.   Israel Houghton & Newbreed received nominations in the Best Gospel Album (Covered: Alive In Asia” (Deluxe) and Best Gospel Performance/Song (“How Awesome Is Our God” featuring Yolanda Adams) categories. Multiple GRAMMY winner Kirk Franklin and newcomer  Travis Greene are recognized in the Best Gospel Performance/Song category for “Wanna Be Happy?” and “Intentional”.

“We’re extremely proud of our GRAMMY nominees,” said RCA Inspiration’s General Manager, Geo Bivins.  “There’s a lot of great gospel music that came out this year and we congratulate Kirk, Israel and Travis on this very special achievement.”

Kirk Franklin Celebrates 20 Years of Music, Announces Tour Dates

KirkfranklinpubKirk Franklin is bringing the music and magic to a city near you with his 20 Years in One Night Tour beginning March 15, 2016.  While the tour’s focus is to promote the release of the multi award winning songwriter and producer’s eleventh album Losing My Religion, it will also provide a retrospective of his musical works spanning 2 decades.

Losing My Religion made its debut at #1 on the Billboard Gospel and Christian charts as well as #10 on the Billboard 200.  Franklin was the recipient of a Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Song / Performance for LOSING MY RELIGION’S #1 single, “Wanna Be Happy?”. (more…)
