LeChateau Earl Records ann
ounces the digital release of Wondrous Things, the debut release of singer/songwriter and worshiper Tekesha Russell. Wondrous Things is the fourth release from the label, which was founded by celebrated producer and recording artist Damien Sneed and noted pastor, preacher, evangelist and author Bishop Iona Locke.
“Tekesha is a modern-day David”, exclaims Bishop Locke. This project is a compilation of thoughts and conversations with God, as well as observations about the world around her. Wondrous Things has a sound of its own, unlike anything that we have heard in gospel music. The uniqueness of this worship album takes us into the heart and mind of Russell, a gifted songwriter and an amazingly skilled vocalist. The single and title track exclaims how God only does wondrous things. “I’m really excited about seeing God’s promises fulfilled in this CD,” says Russell. “I was able to realize a dream of not just singing but composing and actually seeing my writing published. For a first project, this was a good marriage of composition and musicianship. I actually get to bring maximum glory to God.” Look for Wondrous Things at CDBaby, Amazon and iTunes.

Spiritual Sketches, the LeChateau Earl Records release from celebrated tenor Lawrence Brownlee and master pianist Damien Sneed was featured on the weekend edition of National Public Radio’s All Things Considered program. NPR Music’s Tom Huizenga notes that the record does a great job of blending Brownlee’s awesome opera technique with very soulful singing. All Things Considered host Jacki Lyden echoed Huizenga and said that Sneed and Brownlee’s powerful performance of All Night, All Day is reminiscent of “Sunday Morning” and puts tears in your eyes.
Sneed and Brownlee celebrated the release of Sketches with a performance at Harlem’s historic Abyssinian Baptist Church as well as a Meet the Artist session at the Apple Store in Soho New York.

Lawrence Brownlee carries the distinction of being one of the most sought after singers in classical music today. The international opera star paired up with his friend, Grammy award nominated producer and pianist Damien Sneed for Spiritual Sketches, a ten song set containing traditional spirituals scheduled for a June release on Sneed’s LeChateau Earl record label.
Brownlee used his experiences growing up as a child in church as a backdrop for the disc. “My musical background started with exposure to church music. I come from an extremely musical family, with both parents being gifted singers. My father was also the church choir director. There was a l
ove of music that was passed on to me and my five siblings; all of them are still involved in music to varying degrees. That early exposure in addition to a strong music education throughout all my years of schooling allowed me to be influenced by so many styles of music including classical, jazz, gospel. As a singer of color, I felt the unique responsibility not only to carry a torch that has been passed on by my predecessors, but to expand on the traditional negro spirituals.”
Brownlee and Sneed have performed selections from the disc as part of his solo recital tour. Their captivating rendition of All Night All Day has been met with standing ovations at each performance. Brownlee will do a special in store performance on June 9th at the Apple Store in New York and the disc will be available on iTunes on June 11th.
