LIVRE Takes Top Spot On Billboard Chart

LivreOnce again, the principle of good things come to those who wait is both evidenced and reinforced.  After a two year wait,Ajanee Hambrick, Ariel Malloy, Malik Spence, Kenneth Williams and Richard Tolbert known collectively as urban worship group LIVRE bring forth Jericho: Tribe of Joshua,  their long awaited debut CD and the album takes the #1 spot on Billboard’s Gospel Albums chart.

 “They said it couldn’t be done and gave us all the reasons why NOT,” explains MBK Entertainment CEO Jeff Robinson.  “But my GOD said ‘Not So!’.  This could be the sweetest number one I’ve ever been a part of.”

Propelled by their hit radio single Everything’s Coming Up Jesus, Jericho: Tribe of Joshua also features guest performances by Mali Music and Jason Nelson.

 

Tye Tribbett Hosts Hate Won’t Win Benefit Concert

Tye Tribbett 514In response to the June 17th Charleston Church shooting, Israel Houghton, Tasha Cobbs,  Mali Music and Columbia, SC native Travis Greene will join Tye Tribbett for Hate Won’t Win, a concert benefiting the families of the nine victims. The concert will serve as the opening event for Tribbett’s second annual “The Chosen Music Mentorship” conference for church worship leaders on June 23rd at Columbia South Carolina’s Medallion Conference Center.

“Gospel is the good news,” Tribbett says of his use of music as a healing tool. “By spreading the music we induce hope, and we train new worship leaders so they are equipped with the same intent to go fearlessly where some have lost hope and to boldly declare through this gospel that there is yet hope.”

Nominations for the 57th Annual Grammy Awards were announced by the Recording Academy on December 5th in Los Angeles.

The awards will be handed out on Sunday February 8th during a RickyPic_Press1_SideProfileAgainstWalllive broadcast at the Staples Center.  Erica Campbell and Smokie Norful received nominations in both the Best Gospel Performance and Best Gospel Album Categories, while Mali Music received nominations in the Gospel as well as Urban Contemporary categories.  A full list of nominees can be viewed here: Grammy Nominees

Mali Music Confirms Duet with Jennifer Hudson

In Mali MusiMali-Musicc news, the celebrated artist went to Twitter today to confirm a duet with Jennifer Hudson. Mali Music’s single Ready Aim was highlighted in Rolling Stones Magazine in early March and I Shall Live from Sharon Riley and Faith Chorale’s latest project is making the rounds on the BDS radio chart. Tye Tribbett was also on Twitter over the weekend tweeting about the highly anticipated Mali Music/Tye Tribbett mix tape. Tribbett’s latest single Same God hits the streets on April 2nd.

Fresh off his performance at the BET Music Matters Showcase, Mali Music was doing a photo shoot and gearing up for his big announcement (Hello, RCA Records).  In the meantime, Tye Tribett went to twitter to announce to fans to look for a Tye and Mali mixtape coming soon.  This sent fans of both into a delirium of joy.  So 2013 is going to be the year of release, new projects from Mali Music and Tye Tribbett, both separate and together (You will remember that Mali has been in the studio  working on a new project while Tye recorded Greater Than Live back in August).    Stay tuned, Gospel Music lovers, there’s a whole lot more in store.

 Mali Music tweeted about being in the studio with Jennifer Hudson while John P Kee took time away from his Life and Favor Tour to go in the studio and complete a mix on San Franklin.  Pastor Kee tweeted about a new single with Hezekiah Walker and the possibility of a Brothers Tour featuring Kee, Hezekiah Walker, Tye Tribbett  and Fred Hammond.

The reviews are coming in strong for the B Chase Williams and the Shabach Choir (Take A Trip) live recording and DVD taping on Saturday in Atlanta with special guest MC VaShawn Mitchell and guest soloist Ms. Kim McFarland.

Steven Hurd was in the motor city  on Friday as the gospel community kicked off the dedication and celebration for The WORD Network’s new state of the art studio and world headquarters. Broadcast live during a very special Rejoice in the WORD , music was rendered by Marvin Sapp, Damita Haddon, Lisa Page Brooks, Lexi, Wess Morgan, Tim Stevens and others.

The Mary Mary Go Get It Tour made its final stop in Hampton, VA at the Hampton Coliseum.  The tour also featured Isaac Carree, Anthony Brown and Group Therapy and VaShawn Michell.  While the DC stop on the tour was postponed, the tour picks back up in Spring 2013 with additional cities and dates.

 

 

Birthdays,Weddings,Fred Hammond Update and Mali Music News

Gospelflava sends “Birthday Shout Outs” to Take 6’s Alvin “Vinnie” Chea (November 2) , Brian Courtney Wilson (November 1) and Bryan Wilson (November 3) as well as congratulations to Meghan Williams who tied the knot back in October.

Fred Hammond announced on Thursday via social cam alongside David Hollister that his new group United Tenors will not include  Brian Courtney Wilson due to contractual obligations.  United Tenors will have a single out in December and the full project is scheduled to be released in March, 2013.

Mali Music also announced via Twitter news of a new single to be released at the top of the year and a new album to be released in the first  quarter of 2013.  Mali Music is currently featured on  I Shall Live from the CD Impact by Canada’s premier Gospel group,  Sharon Riley and Faith Chorale.
