The Williams Brothers and Smokie Norful Honored By ASCAP

Smokie Norful at the keyboardASCAP paid special honors to Pastor Smokie Norful and The Williams Brothers at its 6th Annual Morning Glory Breakfast held during Stellar Awards weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada.  In addition to recognizing  the ASCAP affiliated Stellar Award nominees, Pastor Norful received the ASCAP “Spirit of Song” Award while The Williams Brothers received the ASCAP “Gospel Icon” Award. The event was co sponsored by eOne entertainment and was  hosted by Michelle Williams with performances from eOne recording artists  Dorinda Clark-Cole and William McDowell.

NAACP Image Awards Air Tonight! Who will win Outstanding Gospel Album?

naacp-image-awards-logoDonnie McClurkin, Erica Campbell, Michelle Williams, Gladys Knight, and Fred Hammond all are nominated for Outstanding Gospel Album. Each has had a great year in their own right. Erica Campbell stepped into the solo spotlight from her group Mary Mary with her album “Help.” Donnie McClurkin was joined by friends on his “Duets” project. Former Destiny’s Child star, Michelle Williams had everyone singing “Say Yes” (with Beyonce and Kelly) from her “Journey to Freedom” album. Fred Hammond, after his double knee replacement, proved he’s still got it on his CD “I Will Trust.” While the legendary Gladys Knight got back to gospel heritage with her album “Where My Heart Belongs.”

The show will air live tonight 9 PM EST/8 CST on TV One from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, CA.

Oxygen Taps Deitrick Haddon & Michelle Williams For Fix My Choir

DeitrickOxygen Media announced the addition of Fix My Choir, a new reality series hosted by Deitrick Haddon and Michelle Williams to its lineup.  Each week, Fix My Choir will take Haddon and Williams into various cities across the country to work with school and community gospel choirs providing leadership training, music coaching and confidence building.  Michelle

Haddon will return for season 2 of Oxygen’s Preachers of LA this Summer.  Casting has also begun for new Preachers series in New York, Atlanta, Dallas and Detroit.

Michelle Williams Celebrity Judge for Most Powerful Voices Competition

Light Records Michelle Williams will serve as a celebrity judge for the American HeartAssociation/American Stroke Association’s 4th Annual Most Powerful Voices Gospel Competition.  The online gospel singing competition helps the association to educate people about stroke – the No. 4 cause of death and the leading preventable cause of disability in America.

The contest is open to independent artists, groups and choirs who sing gospel, holy hip hop, praise and worship music. Participants, who must be 18 years or older, may sign up at Power.watchgmctv.com and upload a video or MP3 file by Jan. 31. Family, friends – and fans – have until April 5 to vote for their favorite artists. Those who register to compete or vote will receive lifesaving stroke information from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.

The grand prize winner will be announced April 30 and will receive:

 

  • Opportunity to perform in the Central Park Summer Stage Concert in New York City with Light Records artists
  • $2,500 for a trip to New York
  • $1,500 cash and a digital single on iTunes from Light Records

Gospel Super Producer Percy Bady Signs With Maranatha Music
