Motown Gospel Celebrates Grammy Nominations For Tasha Cobbs and Brian Courtney Wilson

Tasha Cobbs took home a Grammy statue for her stirring performance of Break Every Chain from her debut project in 2014. One Place Live was released in August, and made its debut at #1 on the Billboard chart.  Cobbs took home a Dove Award as the 2015 Gospel Artist of the Year and is currently on tour with Kierra Sheard and William Murphy.

Brian Courtney Wilson delivered Worth Fighting For as his first project for the Motown Gospel label at the top of 2015, produced by Aaron Lindsey.  Worth Fighting For made its debut at the top of the radio charts and the album earned a Dove Award for Best Traditional Gospel Album. Royce Lovett Makes Billboard Top 5

Motown Gospel celLovettebrates the release of Write It On The Wall,  the major label debut of Royce Lovett making its debut in the top ten on Billboard’s Gospel albums chart.  The 5 track EP produced by Nate Butler continues to garner praise from music lovers across the country.  A world class singer with a loyal following developed from tours overseas in France, Peru, Ecuador, United Kingdom and Costa Rica, Lovett continues making high profile performances on the Tom Joyner Morning Show and CBN News.

Upcoming stops include Chicago, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Milwaukee.

Tasha Cobbs Hits The Road For One Place Live

Cobbs1014Motown Gospel celebrated the release of One Place Live, the follow up CD from Grammy, Dove and Stellar Gospel Music Award winner Tasha Cobbs  on August 21st.  The new disc fulfills its duty picking up where Grace left off, delivering powerful praise and worship music to the masses. Just this past week, Cobbs was greeted with the news of a Dove Award nomination for Gospel Artist of the Year.

In support of the CD’s release, Cobbs made appearances at Tony Evans’ Oak Cliff Bible Church as well as sharing the stage during this year’s MegaFest Celebration in Dallas.  On Labor Day weekend, she will join CeCe Winans, Marvin Sapp and Tye Tribbet at Brooklyn’s Barclay Center as well as share in ministry at Greenville’s SpiritFest with Tamela Mann and Israel Houghton.

John P Kee Signs With Motown Gospel

Motown Gospel Announces Signing of Royce Lovett

Royce Lovett is the newest signee to the Motown Gospel roster.   The Florida native will release Show Me Love, the first single from his major label debut Write It On The Wall on Lovetton July 10th.  A distinguished singer/songwriter Lovett combines the elements of hip-hop and neo soul with strong Christ centered lyrics appealing to believers and non believers alike. Royce’s earliest music beginnings emanate from the experience of watching his mom lead worship at their local church. Through his mother, he came to know the music of Christian worship bands like Hillsong. The Florida resident broadened his love and appreciation for authentic music while listening to Michael Jackson, Musiq Soulchild, and Lauryn Hill and The Fugees. An adept guitarist, Lovett has connected with audiences across the country as well as gaining fans while touring South America and Europe.

Tim Bowman Jr Makes I’m Good His Summer Declaration

When you’re part of a musical family, the expectation of strong music potential can run high, fortunately with the case of Tim Bowman, Jr., we can rest easy. The son of noteTimmy Bowmand guitarist Tim Bowman, the younger introduced the saints to “sanctified scat” with his appearance on his aunt Vickie Winans’ smash hit, How I Got Over.  That was followed by the release of his independent CD in 2010 featuring Beautiful, which made its way into the top ten.  Bowman’s signing with Rodney Jerkins Lifestyle Music Group/Motown Gospel just gets us in gear for great things to happen.

The first radio single I’m Good, written by Jhonte Austin and produced by Jerkins shows a mature and modern sound for Bowman.  The single has been serviced to radio and Bowman will make appearances in support of its release.

Rodney Jerkins Starts New Gospel Label

Grammy AwJerkinsard winning songwriter and producer Rodney Jerkins announced the formation of Lifestyle Music Group.  The new label will have distribution through Motown Gospel/Capitol Christian and Demmette Guidry has been tapped to serve as General Manager.  Capital Christian Music Group President Bill Hearn shared these sentiments, “Rodney Jerkins’ entrance into the Christian and gospel music genres is long overdue. His track record speaks for itself, and I have no doubt our industry will benefit greatly from the artists and music he develops. All of us at Capitol Christian Music Group are honored to work with Rodney and the Lifestyle team and will do everything possible to contribute to their success.”

Already slated are projects from Tim Bowman, Jr. and Joy Enriquez.

Sparrow Records Founder Billy Ray Hearne Passes

Billy-Ray-HearnGOSPELflava joins others around the world remembering the life of Christian music legend Billy Ray Hearne who passed away on Wednesday, April 15th.  Hearne, a graduate of Baylor University began his career at Word Records, launching the Myrrh label and introducing the world to Amy Grant.  In 1976, he founded Sparrow Records, which would include a number of top Gospel artists including Bebe and CeCe Winans, Tramaine Hawkins, The Clark Sisters, Daryl Coley, and the West Angeles COGIC Saints In Praise series.

In 1992, Sparrow was sold to EMI Music, making way for the creation of Capitol Christian Music, the world’s largest Christian music group and home to Motown Gospel.

Tasha Cobbs Set For Live Recording In South Carolina

Motown Gospel recording artist and Grammy, Stellar and Dove Award winner Tasha Cobbs heads to Greenville, SC for a live recording on Monday, October 13th. “We all have heard the saying that you ‘appreciate something more when you invest in it’. If you’ve sacrificed and invested in order to get there, you’re not coming as a spectator, you’re coming to actively participate in the worship experience,” says Cobbs.Cobbs1014  “I’ve noticed that God always sends me places that require a sacrifice in order for one to attend,” she says about recording in South Carolina. “I had the opportunity to minister at Redemption Center a few months ago and I knew immediately that I was going to record there. Apostle Carpenter and the Redemption Church have been very gracious to open their church doors to us.”

The untitled project will pair Cobbs once again with producer VaShawn Mitchell and feature guest artists Bishop Paul Morton and Jamie Grace
