NAACP Image Awards Air Tonight! Who will win Outstanding Gospel Album?

naacp-image-awards-logoDonnie McClurkin, Erica Campbell, Michelle Williams, Gladys Knight, and Fred Hammond all are nominated for Outstanding Gospel Album. Each has had a great year in their own right. Erica Campbell stepped into the solo spotlight from her group Mary Mary with her album “Help.” Donnie McClurkin was joined by friends on his “Duets” project. Former Destiny’s Child star, Michelle Williams had everyone singing “Say Yes” (with Beyonce and Kelly) from her “Journey to Freedom” album. Fred Hammond, after his double knee replacement, proved he’s still got it on his CD “I Will Trust.” While the legendary Gladys Knight got back to gospel heritage with her album “Where My Heart Belongs.”

The show will air live tonight 9 PM EST/8 CST on TV One from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, CA.

Gospel Takes Front Seat at NAACP Image Awards

The 44th NAACP Image Awards airs on NBC  network with Steve Harvey handling hosting duties.  Tamela Mann and Mary Mary dominate the recording categories with Mann being nominated for both the Outstanding Female and Outstanding Gospel Album categories and Mary Mary bNew Fred Hammond 213eing nominated in the Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration and Outstanding Gospel Album categories.  Rounding out the Outstanding Gospel Album category is Fred Hammond, Marvin Sapp, and Leandria Johnson. 2013 NAACP Image Award Nominations Announced

The 2013 NAACP Image Awards nominations were announced earlier today.  Mary Mary faces some stiff competition in the Outstanding Group, Duo or Collaboration category against Lupe Fiasco featuring Guy Sebastian,  fun featuring Janelle Monae and a double collaboration from Herbie Hancock while Tamela Mann received a nod in the Outstanding Female Artist Category alongside Alicia Keys, Estelle, Missy Elliot and Elle Varner.  The Gospel Category nominees are as follows:

Gospel Album – (Traditional or Contemporary)
“Best Days” – Tamela Mann (Tillymann Music Group)
“Go Get It” – Mary Mary (Columbia)
“God, Love & Romance” – Fred Hammond (Verity Gospel Music Group)
“I Win” – Marvin Sapp (Verity Gospel Music Group)
“Le’Andria Johnson The Experience” – Le’Andria Johnson (Music World Gospel / Music World)

Winners will be announced during the 2 hour live presentation on February 1, 2013 on NBC.





Mary Mary and Deitrick Haddon To Perform on Image Awards

Mary Mary and Deitrick Haddon are set to perform on the 42nd Annual NAACP Image Awards. The Award show airs this Friday March 4, 2011 at 8 p.m. on FOX. Mary Mary is set to release their new album, “Something Big” on Tuesday March 29, 2011 while Deitrick’s Haddon’s latest addition, “Church On The Moon”  continues to make impact on the charts.
