Luther Barnes Shows Us The Favor Of God September 9th

Luther+BarnesAfter more than 2 decades, Reverend Luther Barnes has proven himself to be a formidable presence in Gospel music.  The writer of such classics as So Satisfied, I’m Still Holding On, The Other Shore and What More Can I Do makes a return to the recording scene with his new choir, the Restoration Worship Center Choir and a new label partnership between SRT Entertainment and Shanachie Entertainment. The new disc entitled The Favor of God, hits stores and digital outlets on September 9th.

Barnes is joined by newcomer Derrick Adams producing the new project.  “Although it has taken a minute for me to bring forth another musical project,” Luther says, “I believe the delayed process was nothing less than God’s perfect will.  The birthing of our church, Restoration Worship Center has brought with it new life and purpose which is extremely evident in these songs. The Restoration Worship Center Choir and musicians are awesome. We have truly been blessed by the Favor of God.”

Beloved singer and songwritLuther+Barneser Luther Barnes is back signing an exclusive recording agreement with SRT Entertainment making way for more music from the the Sunset Jubilaires, The Barnes Family and his solo project. Known for gospel classics including So Satisfied and I’m Still Holding On, Luther Barnes has released some twenty one projects with seven of them charting in the top 20 of the Billboard Top Gospel Albums Charts.

“I am extremely delighted to be on board with SRT Entertainment. I sincerely look forward to continuing my music ministry with God’s blessings and the expertise of Mr. D.A. Johnson and his team.”

In addition to music, Barnes adds pastoral duties to his resume as he shepherds the flock of the Restoration Worship Center in Rocky Mount, NC

Passing of Bishop F C Barnes

Gospel music lovers across the country were saddened with the passing of AIR Gospel/Malaco Recording Artist Bishop F C Barnes on July 11. Bishop Barnes was 82.

Bishop Barnes started singing with quartets at the age of 14.  He spent a number of years traveling the circuit before answering the call to ministry organizing the Red Budd Holy Church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina where he would serve as pastor and chief musician.    He would later go on to pair up with Reverend Janice Brown.  The duo made eight albums, one of which yielded  the smash hit Rough Side of the Mountain in 1983. The album would sell over 500,000 units and ride the charts for over a a record 97 weeks.

Bishop Barnes recorded several albums with his son Luther and the Barnes Family, with his group called the Company (featuring his nieces Deborah Barnes, Wanda Barnes, and Lisa Barnes)  his Red Budd Gospel Choir as well as several recordings from the quartet he founded, the Sunset Jubilaires.
