Shirley Caesar Feted By Hollywood Walk of Fame June 28th

Yolanda Adams and Kirk Franklin will be on hand to pay homage to the reigning Queen of Gospel , Pastor Shirley CaesPastorShirleyCaesar-Photo3ar as she is honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on June 28th by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

“We are proud to welcome the Reigning Queen of Gospel Shirley Caesar to our famous Walk of Fame. She is known as a musical trailblazer who has influenced a wide range of artists across genres. Her career has made an indelible mark on American music and the sounds of gospel,” stated Leron Gubler, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President and CEO.

Pastor Caesar joins only 3 other Gospel legends Mahalia Jackson, Reverend James Cleveland and Pastor Andrae Crouch with the with the 2,583rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .

Pastor Shirley Caesar Honored In Hollywood

Lady ShirleyMultiple Grammy winner Pastor Shirley Caesar was recently announced as a 2016 recipient of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  She is the 4th Gospel artist to receive the prestigious honor.   Eone VP/GM Phil Thorton shared these sentiments: “Entertainment One Music congratulates Pastor Shirley Caesar on this monumental achievement as an honoree on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for 2016! New Music From Minister Keith Pringle

On the heels of the celebration of the Pentecostal Community Choir’s 35th Anniversary Celebration and Reunion Concert comes word of a new single from PCC founder and GOSPEL legend, Minister Keith Pringle.  Pringle burst into the Worst is Overmusic scene while accompanying Rev. James Cleveland and the Salem Baptist Church Choir of Omaha, Nebraska.  As the choir was singing I Don’t Feel No Ways Tired, Rev. Cleveland uttered the words “sing it for me, Keith”, and Pringle’s singing career was birthed.  For the new single, Minister Pringle teams up with noted songwriters V. Michael McKay, Carlton Burgess and producer Garland Miche Waller for The Worst Is Over.  The new single has been released to radio and Pringle returns to the studio to work on a full project with a tentative release date for early 2015.

Iconic Radio Personality Edna Tatum Passes

On the heelsEdna Tatum of the closing of the GMWA Board Meeting in Los Angeles comes word of the passing of one of Gospel music’s distinctive voices, the legendary Edna Tatum has passed away after enduring some health challenges.  A tribute service honoring her for her contributions to Gospel music was held this past January.

Known as the “Voice” of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Edna Tatum found great joy as a  gospel radio announcer in Los Angeles. She caught the attention of Reverend James Cleveland and introduced him and the Southern California Community Choir on several occasions including the Live at Carnegie Hall LP as well as Rev Cleveland’s last recording with SCCC, Having Church .  In 1996, she was joined by Billy Preston for the compilation of a words and music disc.  Her voice can also be heard on projects from Kurt Carr and the Kurt Carr Singers, Bishop Walter Hawkins and the Love Center Choir’s 25th Anniversary Celebration and  Rev. Daryl Coley.

Keith Pringle And The Pentecostal Community Choir 35th Year Reunion Concert

Minister Keith Pringle was inspired to form and organize a community choir in the Los Angeles area while sitting in a nightly musical at the Gospel Music Workshop of America .  The choir would bear PCCthe name, the Pentecostal Community Choir and would record their first album at Reverend James Cleveland’s  Cornerstone Institutional Baptist Church.  That first album would yield such hits as True Victory, Trees and the ever popular Call Him Up (If You Confess the Lord).  With 7 recordings, multiple award nominations,  numerous concerts and appearances across the United States, the Pentecostal Community Choir now prepares to celebrate their 35th Year with a reunion concert scheduled for May 24, 2014 at the West Angeles Church of God In Christ.
