Paul Porter Joins the Motown Gospel Family

The Motown Paul PorterGospel Family is happily experiencing growing pains as the signing of Paul Porter was announced today. Porter established his reputation as lead singer of The Christianaires and has thrilled audiences with bonafide hits including the remake of the James Cleveland classic Two Wings.

Smokie Norful’s TreMyles Music and Mars On Sunday teamed up to join Motown Gospel in bringing about Paul Porter’s return. Norful added, “Paul has been an incredible source of great music and has a powerful voice. His story of endurance and perseverance coupled with the new music is going to make this a great partnership. I’m very excited to play a part in continuing the Paul Porter legacy!”

A studio album is due to release in the fall of 2013. The first single, F.R.E.E. featuring Smokie Norful will drop in June.

Motown Gospel Bows, Signs CeCe Winans and Taps Aaron Lindsey for A&R Post

Iconic hitmaker Motown Records has entered in a joint venture with EMI Gospel to form Motown Gospel. The label makes it debut tonight in Los Angeles with a showcase featuring Smokie Norful, Kierra Sheard, Tasha Cobbs and Tye Tribbett.   Motown Gospel

EMI Gospel label veteran Ken Pennell will oversee day to day operations and Grammy award winning songwriter/producer Aaron Lindsay has been tapped to serve as VP of A&R.  In its first act, the label signed multi award winner CeCe Winans whose project is slated for a 2014 release.  Tribett, Norful and Sheard all have releases scheduled for 2013.

Gospel Super Producer Percy Bady Signs With Maranatha Music

Maranatha! Music announced today a partnership with Award Winning Producer Percy Bady.  Bady will release his own solo projects and spearhead A/R for the Gospel division of Maranatha! Music as the director of Maranatha! Gospel. Bady’s first solo CD  for Maranatha Gospel will be released in 2013.

Dynamic singer, songwriter, and preacher –Smokie Norful has released a new project entitled “How I Got Over (Songs that carried us)” today!! It is comprised of many songs widely known and sung in the African American Church. This project pays homage to classic church songs that many have grown to love. The project features artists&  such as: Sherri Jones-Moffet, Myron Butler, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Melvin Williams, and Joe Ligon. The 12th District A.M.E. church conference choir is also featured on the project. Some songs included are: “Sunday Morning Medley” (which is in rotation on radio) , “The Lord Will Make A Way”, “I Know It Was The Blood”, “Storm Out On the Ocean”, and many more.
