North Carolina boasts of being the home of great Gospel singers including Luther Barnes, Pastor Shirley Caesar and Pastor John P. Kee . Adding to that roster is Damion Murrill and Siloam. Damion shouldn’t be too unfamiliar to the music scene; he hails from the other family group, the Stellar Award nominated Murrills, spent time honing his craft in the Tri City Singers and counts Donald Lawrence as one of his musical mentors. With six musical siblings and preachers for parents, Damion Murrill’s future was already laid out for him. Accompanying him on this musical journey is 16 handpicked singers from the NC area that comprise the group Siloam. Murrill believes God will use this music ministry to open the eyes of others who have been blinded from God’s truth. Look forward to a single, Kingdom Come as well as a full project in 2014.
Following on the release of the Billboard Top Gospel Songs #1 hit single The Gift, Donald Lawrence releases Best for Last as the second radio single from his 20 Year Celebration Volume 1 CD. The song, written by Lawrence and co produced by Percy Bady features the majestic vocals of Yolanda Adams backed by the Tri-City Singers.
Lawrence’s writing and production efforts has resulted in unforgettable chart toppers including “The Blessing of Abraham,” “Encourage Yourself,” “Back II Eden,” and most recently “The Gift”. The blessings keep going with Best for Last, which marks his first recording with Yolanda Adams.
Arnetta Murrill Crooms is enjoying the success of the release of her first single Try it Again from her self titled debut CD scheduled to bow in the spring. Supporting the single’s release, the Tri-City Singers alum has had high profile performances during CIAA Week and will perform the National Anthem for the Charlotte Bobcats vs Miami Heat game at the Time Warner Arena in early April.
GOSPELflava was privileged to get insider info on the CD. The noteworthy and stand out compositions come from Cedric Thompson and Carnell Murrell. Crooms enlists family support as brother Roger Murill joins her for a feel good duet and she pulls on the expertise of her son Oliver, an up and coming producer for assistance with the five songs that she penned. If that isn’t enough, there’s a off the chain remake of I Am God.
In the meantime, Try It Again is available on Amazon and iTunes and feel free to take in a command performance of In the Presence of a King to help you get ready:
