Five Dove Award Nominations For Tyscot Records

AnthonyBrownTyscot Records, the nation’s oldest Black Gospel label is ecstatic with the news of its five nominations for the 47th annual Dove Awards.  Anthony Brown & group therAPy continue their year of celebration as Worth is a contender in the Song of the Year  and  Urban Worship Recorded Song of the Year categories.  Brown was also nominated for Gospel Artist of the Year and Everyday Jesus was nominated for Traditional Gospel Album of the Year.

Briana “Bri” Babineaux earned her first Dove Award nomination in the newly created category of Urban Worship Album of the Year for her debut album “Keys To My Heart” that debuted at No. 1 on Billboard Magazine’s Gospel Albums sales chart this past spring.

 

Tyscot Celebrates 40 Years With Anniversary Concert September 23rd

RanceAllenGroupThe legendary Rance Allen Group joins  multiple Stellar Award winners Anthony Brown and group therAPy, Ruth La’Ontra and Tyscot founder Dr. Leonard Scott on September 23rd at Indianapolis’ Pike Performing Arts Center for a Gospel Explosion commemorating four decades of music from Tyscot Records, the oldest existing black Gospel label in the USA.

The celebration continues with Feel Good, a fifteen-track disc celebrating  some of Tyscot’s greatest musical moments with featured selections from Vashawn Mitchell, Rodnie Bryant, The Rance Allen Group, Deitrick Haddon, Bishop Larry Trotter as well as the new radio hit “Feel Good” by Dr. Leonard Scott.

 

Tyscot Records Dominates The Charts, Celebrates 4 Decades With Compilation Release

Tyscot Logo (640x360)Its been a good year for Tyscot Records and the blessings just continue to flow.  The oldest existing African American Gospel Music label began the year with a record 10 Stellar Award wins for Anthony Brown and group therAPy.  The radio hit Worth from their Everyday Jesus project spent  21 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Gospel Digital sales chart.  The album also received three Billboard Music Award nominations.

Newcomer Casey J continues her reign holding down the top spot on the Billboard radio charts with her current radio single I’m Yours, and internet sensation Bri (Briana) Babineaux made her Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart debut  at number 1 and held on to the top spot for another week with the release of Keys To My Heart.

In honor of their 4 decades in the business, Tyscot will release “Feel Good! 40 Years of Life Changing Music,” a fifteen-track compilation featuring some of the label’s top acts past and present, in celebration of the historic recording firm’s 40th anniversary on April 29th.

Three Billboard Music Nominations For Anthony Brown

AnthonyBrownAnthony Brown and group TherAPy continue the year of great things as the Billboard Music Awards nominations were announced today.  The group received nominations for Top Gospel Album for the number one album Everyday Jesus, Top Gospel Song for the single “Worth,” and Top Gospel Artist.

It was just in March that Brown made history taking home a record ten statues during the Stellar Awards held in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Everyday Jesus made its debut atop the Billboard Top Gospel albums charts and held the position for seven weeks, while Worth was number one on the radio charts for 25 weeks.

The Billboard Music Awards take place on Sunday May 22nd.

 

Tiff Joy Hits New Stride With Oh How We Love You

TiffJoyTiff Joy’s rambunctious new single Oh How We Love You is making quite an impression as it hits the radio airwaves.  The Stellar Award winning songwriter’s composition  Amazing recorded by Ricky Dillard & New Generation spent some 30 weeks on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart.  This set the stage for her solo debut self titled disc last year.  On Oh How We Love You, Tiff Joy gets writing assistance from Phillip Feaster, Angel Feaster and Calvin Rodgers.  And because we love you, you can take it in for all its worth right here:

Anthony Brown Gets 10 Stellar Award Nominations

Tyscot Records is basking in the afterglow of the Stellar Award nominations announcement.  Anthony Brown and group therAPy earned 10 nominations (the most for any artist this year)  for their sophomore project, Everyday Jesus.

The disc received nods for Song of the Year and Producer of the year in addition toA rtist of the Year, CD of the Year, Contemporary CD of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Contemporary Male Vocalist of the Year, Group/Duo of the Year and Contemporary Group/Duo of the Year. “Wow…is all I can say. I am so honored and extremely humbled to be nominated,” said Brown. “I have a great amount of respect for The Stellar Awards and for all of the artist who share the gospel around the world. I’m elated to be considered amongst them.”

Adding to the celebration was news of the Grammy nomination for the hit single, Worth which spent 17 weeks at number one gospel radio and was one of the best selling digital singles of 2015.

Stan Jones Brings Clout To Tyscot Records

Stan Jones CloutMississippi’s pride and joy and master songwriter/producer Stan Jones announced a distribution deal with his newly formed Clout Music Group and Tyscot Records.   “Tyscot Records has proven longevity,” says Jones. “They were a pioneer in the past and they continue to break exciting new ground for new #1 acts such as Anthony Brown & group therAPy and Casey J.” The union will marry Tyscot’s vast promotional and marketing resources with Jones’ dynamic handpicked vocalists, his powerful songwriting skills and his A1 production standards. “Stan Jones is a premiere producer who has established his brand in the gospel genre,” says Tyscot COO Bryant Scott. “We are excited to partner with Stan as he launches Clout Music Group.”

Look for Clout’s first offering in the long awaited release from Sunday Best finalist Durward Davis in 2016.

BRI RELEASES NEW “I’ll BE THE ONE” EP

The full length CD is scheduled for a Spring, 2016 release.

Lonnie Hunter Announces End Of Radio Show

Lonnie-HunterSyndicated radio host and Tyscot recording artist Lonnie Hunter informed listeners that his radio show will come to an end on September 21st.  “It’s time for a change,” Hunter says of his exit that’s been in the plans for weeks. “I’ve loved doing the show, interviewing artists and playing the Battle of the Sexes and Clues & Categories games with the audience; but I’ve got lots of other new and exciting adventures on the horizon that I’m about to get off the ground.”

The Stellar Award winning artist and Pastor of Worship for New Jersey Bishop David Evans’ Bethany Baptist Church is preparing for the release of He’s Worthy, the new single from his Billboard top 5 charting CD #GETITDONE.  Hunter will make his final appearance on October 17th in Los Angeles as host of this year’s McDonalds Inspiration Celebration Gospel Tour and has signed on for hosting duties as the tour celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2016.  Plans are in the works for Hunter to transition to television with details on the show and format to come in the near future.
