Vashawn_PUB2Immerse, the education and networking summit sponsored by the Gospel Music Association takes place June 13-15 on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN.  New to this year’s event is the addition of a faith based film track for aspiring filmmakers, screenwriters and actors.

The three day conference provides aspiring artists, songwriters and other music professionals an outlet to inspire creativity, foster community and advance education. Among the presenters and artists this year are Stellar Award winners, Anthony Brown, William McDowell, VaShawn Mitchell, Jonathan McReynolds,  Grammy nominated producer Daniel Weatherspoon and music professionals Phil Thornton,  Benita Bellamy, Eboni Funderbunk and Demetrus Alexander.

McdowellSound of Revival, the new CD from celebrated worship leader Pastor William McDowell makes its bow at #1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart.  In addition, the album is #1 on the Top Christian & Gospel Albums (combined) charts,  #2 on the Independent Albums chart and at #46 on the multi-genre Billboard TOP 200 chart.

The Dove Award nominee and Stellar Award winner known for popular worship songs including “I Give Myself Away,” “I Won’t Go Back” and “Withholding Nothing” celebrates his third  album hitting the top of the chart and readies a national tour launching in the Spring.

William McDowell Presents The Sounds of Revival

McdowellStellar Award winner and Dove and Grammy nominee William McDowell set a standard by giving the church classic worship anthems like Withholding Nothing and I Give Myself Away.  In June, he presented new music via his live recording at Baton Rouge’s Bethany Church.  The lead single, Send the Rain became an  instant hit, making its home in the top ten on the radio charts.  Well, the wait is almost over! On January 22, 2016, the world will get to experience the Sounds of Revival as McDowell releases his fourth album via Delivery Room Music / Entertainment One Music .

SOUNDS OF REVIVAL is meant to be a catalyst to stir the desire of revival in the hearts of God’s people,” says McDowell. “We know that the earth is in desperate need of revival and I pray that this experience awakens something in our hearts!”

Smokie Norful Receives Top Honors at 2015 ASCAP Awards

Smokie Norful at the keyboardThe American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers held its 28th annual Rhythm and Soul Awards honoring the songwriters and publishers of the most performed songs on the charts.

In the Gospel category, top honors went to Bart Millard for I Can Only Imagine (as recorded by Tamela Mann).  Other award recipients include Smokie Norful (who performed his composition No Greater Love during the evening), William McDowell for Withholding Nothing, Erica Campbell for Help and David Bratton for Every Praise (as recorded by Bishop Hezekiah Walker).  A full list of Gospel award recipients can be found here: 2015 ASCAP Top Gospel Songs

The Williams Brothers and Smokie Norful Honored By ASCAP

Smokie Norful at the keyboardASCAP paid special honors to Pastor Smokie Norful and The Williams Brothers at its 6th Annual Morning Glory Breakfast held during Stellar Awards weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada.  In addition to recognizing  the ASCAP affiliated Stellar Award nominees, Pastor Norful received the ASCAP “Spirit of Song” Award while The Williams Brothers received the ASCAP “Gospel Icon” Award. The event was co sponsored by eOne entertainment and was  hosted by Michelle Williams with performances from eOne recording artists  Dorinda Clark-Cole and William McDowell.

30th Annual Stellar Gospel Music AwardsEntertainment One Music carried the night at the 30th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards.  Eone artists Erica Campbell, Dorinda Clark Cole, Ricky Dillard Deitrick Haddon, Jonathan McReynolds and Michelle Williams performed during the eventful celebration as eOne artists took home 14 awards out of the 28 categories.

Erica Campbell, Ricky Dillard, William McDowell, Michelle Williams took home awards in the major categories while Bishop Paul Morton received special honors.

William McDowell Preps For Live Recording

William McDowell has established himself as  one of the nation’s prominent praise and worship leaders.   Favorites like “I Give Myself Away,” “I Won’t Go Back” and “William McDowell RainWithholding Nothing” continue to dominate the Sunday morning worship at churches across the country.  Withholding Nothing grabbed three Stellar Award nominations for Praise & Worship CD of the Year, Traditional CD of the Year and Traditional Male Vocalist of the Year.

The Lead Pastor of Orlando based Deeper Fellowship continues to set the standard with the release of a new single, Send the Rain while making preparations for a live recording on June 5th in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Nominations for the 57th Annual Grammy Awards were announced by the Recording Academy on December 5th in Los Angeles.
