JJ Hairston and Anthony Brown

So while you’re in Vegas, since you won’t be gambling *wink*, you’ll have plenty of time to eat! We’ve checked in with some of our favorite artists to see where they like to break bread in Las Vegas.

Sunday Night Pasta – Grand Lux

Anthony Brown looks forward to Grand Lux. Though there are several across the country, there’s not one near his home in the DMV.  Good thing for him, there are two in Las Vegas – one at the Palazzo (3327 Las Vegas Boulevard S.)  and one at the Venetian (3355 Las Vegas Boulevard S.) “My absolute favorite dish there is the Sunday Night Pasta. Whenever I’m there I HAVE to have it! At least once!”  The Sunday Night Pasta is a slow-simmered meat sauce with chunks of beef short rib, steak, mushrooms, onions, garlic and parmesan cheese, served over spaghettini.  Super rich!  After making it to Grand Lux this time, Brown is looking forward to giving one of Wolfgang Puck’s restaurants a try

Fried Rice Combo – PF Changs

JJ Hairston is sticking to the food chains as well. Hairston says, “Honestly the best restaurant I went to in Vegas last year is PF Chang’s(4165 S. Paradise Rd.)where his favorite thing to eat is the Fried Rice Combo. He says, “I can eat that all day!”  What’s he want to try this go round?  “There’s a place called Famous Dave’s Bar BQ that I’ve heard about a few times.”  Um, JJ go with the beef brisket there. Trust me!

Lobster Cheese Fries – Lobster Me

If you are pescatarian, you’d to well to follow the lead of Casey J. An admitted foodie, Casey makes no secret that she is excited about the food in Las Vegas. She zeroed in on a place that I passed by last year and didn’t have time to stop.  Lobster Me (Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, 3663 Las Vegas Blvd S.) and (Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian, 3377 S. Las Vegas Blvd.) is all things lobster. Lobster sliders, lobster rolls, the LOBSICLE (a broiled lobster tail on a stick) and Casey’s favorite Lobster Cheese FRIES (crisp fries covered with lobster bisque, cheese curds & butter-poached lobster meat). – um, yes please! If you know of a great vegan spot, that’s on Casey’s wish list this time in Vegas.

Chicken and Waffles – Hash House A Go Go

Travis Greene would probably be no help with that. He likes chicken and so it’s not surprise that his favorite is Andy’s Sage Fried Chicken & Bacon Waffle Tower at Hash House A Go Go (6800 West Sahara Ave.) (Plaza Hotel and Casino, 1 South Main St) and (The Linq, 3535 Las Vegas Blvd S.).  If you’ve never been to Hash House, make sure you come hungry. The portions are enormous  – no really – and the presentation is second to none. The Chicken Pot Pie is pretty much a work of art and if you get a burger, just know that they are plate sized! Greene just celebrated his wedding anniversary in Vegas just a few months ago. I recommended Hash House, and it must’ve been pretty good, because he can’t wait to get back! Next on his list to try Top of the World (Stratosphere, 2000 S Las Vegas Blvd), for a romantic dinner with wife Jackie.  The restaurant is at the top of the Stratosphere and rotates slowly while you dine. Best views in Las Vegas.

Vashawn Mitchell

Lastly, when in Vegas, Vashawn Mitchell says no to chain restaurants. His favorite cuisine is Asian and when he arrives in town he’s headed straight to Wing Lei at The Wynn (3131 S Las Vegas Blvd) where his favorite is the Washington Dungeness Crab with Garlic and Sichuan Chili.  Located inside the multi-billion dollar Wynn Las Vegas Resort and Casino, Wing Lei offers an upscale, sit-down style Chinese dining experience. Executive Chef Richard Chen takes a fresh approach to Chinese cuisine by featuring traditional Chinese dishes that are flavored with non-Asian ingredients and prepared using a mix of Cantonese, Shanghai and Szechwan cooking styles.
